Does U.S. Ignore Right-Wing Terror?

  • Non-Muslim extremists have carried out 19 attacks since September 2001 killing 48 people
  • Radical Muslims have killed 26 people in seven attacks, new report found
  • The Charleston church massacre on June 17 is considered the worst non-Muslim attack since 9/11, with nine killed
  • The report only tallies deaths that occurred on U.S. soil

Published on Jun 25, 2015 – As thousands head to the South Carolina state Capitol to honor church victim massacre Rev. Clementa Pinckney, a new study finds white supremacists and other non-Muslim fanatics have killed far more people in the United States since 9/11 than Muslim extremists. According to the research center New America, 26 people have been killed in jihadist violence in the U.S. since 9/11, but 48 people have been killed in attacks by right-wing groups. Despite the intense focus by the Obama administration on Muslim communities, non-Muslims have carried out 19 terrorist attacks since September 11, 2001, while Muslims have been responsible for only seven. We are joined by two guests: Mike German, a fellow at NYU’s Brennan Center for Justice and former FBI agent specializing in domestic counterterrorism; and Bud Welch, whose daughter, Julie Marie Welch, was killed in the bombing of the Oklahoma City Federal Building on April 19, 1995.

The Muslim Times’ Response to an Anti-Islam Film

The Muslim Times’ Response to an Anti-Islam Film

The Mosque of Medina: This Mosque was first built by the Prophet of Islam

“He (Allah) it is Who sends blessings on you (Muhammad), as do His angels, that He may bring you forth from all kinds of darkness into light. And He is Merciful to the believers. Their greeting on the day when they meet Him will be, ‘Peace.’ And He has prepared for them an honorable reward.” (Al Quran 33:44-45)

“Allah and His angels send blessings on the Prophet. O ye who believe! you also should invoke blessings on him and salute him with the salutation of peace.  Indeed, those who annoy Allah and His Messenger — Allah has cursed them in this world and in the Hereafter, and has prepared for them an abasing punishment.’” (Al Quran 33:57–58)

One of the first steps that the Muslim Times took to refute the propaganda of a recent  anti-Islam film, which has gathered some notoriety, was to promote a positive movie about the Holy Prophet Muhammad, may peace be on him: The Message: Mohammed: Messenger of God.

Islamophobia Hurts Aussie Multiculturalism

Islamophobia Imperils Aussie Multiculturalism

With a vocal minority holding racist views about Islam, a parliamentary report is warning that anti-Muslim sentiments are casting a pale on the success of multiculturalism in Australia.

“The committee’s analysis has revealed that the perception of Islam as a threat has led to serious concerns within the community, which in turn is sometimes used as a justification for aggressive racist attacks and intensifying the marginalization of Muslims,” says the parliamentary report cited by The Australian on Tuesday, March 19.

UK Muslims distribute Koran in response to anti-Islam film

With violent protests escalating around the world over the video “Innocence of Muslims”, a Muslim organisation in the United Kingdom decided to react in a very different way: by distributing copies of the Koran in English to non-Muslims, with the aim of countering prejudice against Islam.
Photos of the Koran distribution, which have been widely shared on social networks, contrast sharply with those of the violent protests of the past week – they show young Muslim volunteers distributing free Korans in a shopping centre in London.
Behind this initiative is the organisation Discover Islam, whose goal is to educate non-Muslims in the United Kingdom about their faith. It works mainly with learning institutions (schools and universities) and public libraries, giving talks and putting on exhibits that convey a positive image of Islam.

“Our goal is not to convert people, but simply to ask them to read about Islam for themselves”

Hate Speech vs. Free Speech

Hate Speech vs. Free Speech

“Every time that there is an offensive piece written to target Muslim sensitivities, there is the temptation to cast it as an issue of ‘freedom of speech’, held to be absolute, vs. the religious sensitivity of Muslims. That framework is either unhelpful or at best only partially helpful,” said Omid Safi, professor of Islamic Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in an article for the Religion News. He added: “The so-called film are best classified as ‘hate speech’, as they seem to be of the same genre as anti-Semitic films of the 1930’s or Birth of the Nation KKK movies.”

Sheila Musaji has done an investigative piece on the film here. On the site, The American Muslim, Musaji has well written pieces on the Islamophobia industry and their desire to psychologically terrorize Muslims. Here is an excerpt from one of her pieces, Islamophobia Manifesto Clearly Lays Out Plot Against Muslims:

Do Not Be Fooled By Propaganda

Do Not Be Fooled By Propaganda

Charley Reese

There is an ongoing slander campaign against Islam, claiming that it is a religion that promotes violence and hinting that it seeks world conquest. Before you buy the malarkey that is being produced by people with their own agendas or prejudices or who are just plain ignoramuses, follow these few suggestions.

Compare the history of Islam with the history of Europe, which for centuries was called Christendom. An objective look will show you that Christendom wins by a landslide when it comes to violence and wars. After all, Europe and its offspring did not come to dominate the world, including the Islamic countries, because they practiced the gentle virtues of Jesus.

As for the common practice of cherry-picking Scripture from holy writings and presenting it out of context, just check out what Christians call the Old Testament. There you will find God advocating a double standard of morality, condoning slavery, ordering the Israelites to commit genocide and committing infanticide himself on a mass scale. I don’t believe you will find anything comparable in the Qur’an.

Does Islam Promote Violence?

A common falsehood about Islam that continues to be promoted is that Islam exhorts its followers to be violent against non-Muslims. There are many prominent voices in the West that are part of a rising cacophony of vicious criticism of the Qur’an. One can read and hear a whole range of negative opinions about this issue in the media. Few have taken an in depth look at the issue. What does the Qur’an actually say about violence against non-Muslims? Does it say that it is the religious duty of Muslims to kill infidels? But first some basic principles about reading and understanding the Qur’an. After all, studying the Qur’an is not exactly like reading Harry Potter. Like any other scripture there are rules that may be followed for a proper understanding of the text.

The origins of the term “Islamophobia”

by Sheila Musaji
One of the Islamophobic memes that appears regularly in the writing of Islamophobes is that the term Islamophobia itself was “deliberately invented” in the early 1990’s as part of a devious Muslim Brotherhood plot designed to shut down criticism of Islam.

An article by Robert Spencer is a case in point.  In How the term “Islamophobia” got shoved down your throat, he introduces an article by Clair Berlinski saying:

“I’ve maintained for years that the term “Islamophobia” was a politically manipulative coinage designed to silence critics of Islamic supremacism. Now Claire Berlinski explains how Islamic supremacists devised it for precisely that purpose.”

Berlinski claimed that according to a former employee of IIIT the word was made up at a meeting “years ago” in Virginia.  Berlinski said

In an effort to silence critics of political Islam, advocates needed to come up with terminology that would enable them to portray themselves as victims. Muhammad said he was present when his then-allies, meeting at the offices of the International Institute for Islamic Thought (IIIT) in Northern Virginia years ago, coined the term “Islamophobia.”  …  “Now here’s a point you might deeply consider: The neologism “Islamophobia” did not simply emerge ex nihilo. It was invented, deliberately, by a Muslim Brotherhood front organization, the International Institute for Islamic Thought, which is based in Northern Virginia.”
