دعا نائبان بالبرلمان الكيني - "حسن جوهو" و"رمضان كاجيمبو" - إلى اللجوء لتعدد الزوجات كخطوة مشروعة للتغلب على البغاء والزنا ونتائجهما السلبية؛ مثل أطفال الشوارع أولاد الزنا، وانتشار الإصابة بمرض الإيدز.
وقد لقيت الدعوة تأييد الشيخ "جوما نجاو" - رئيس المجلس الاستشاري الإسلامي الوطني - الذي أكد أن هذه دعوة سلام مشروعة حكيمة، يتأسى فيها المرء بالنبي - صلى الله عليه وسلم - مُطالِبًا الحكومة بتخصيص إدارات لتزويج الشباب، مُشيرًا إلى أن من لديه القدرة فعليه أن يتزوج بأكثر من امرأة للقيام بشؤنهن وللحيلولة دون وقوعهن في البغاء.

MPs Hassan Joho's and Ramadhan Kajembe's call for polygamy has received support from Muslim leaders at the Coast.
Kenya Muslim National Advisory Council chairman Sheikh Juma Ngao said this is one sure way of curbing the problem of prostitution, the spread of Hiv/Aids and the rising number of street children. "The call by Mheshimiwa Joho and Mheshima Kajembe is a peace call. It is always wise to marry more than one wife because it is also the call of Prophet Mohammed and the call of Allah," Sheikh Ngao said.
Joho, the Kisauni MP and his Changamwe counterpart Kajembe have been advocating for polygamy to maintain political relevance and as a sign of good managerial skills. Sheikh Ngao said marrying more than one wife and being able to maintain them well is a sign of good management. He said one who can manage that can also handle bigger responsibilities in the county and country.
He called on the Home Affairs ministry to introduce a department that will facilitate marriage between the youth. Kajembe has been pushing for a special marriage kitty from his CDF to facilitate the idea. "The Home Affairs ministry should open an office to assist the youth who want to marry. Those with financial strength should marry many wives," Sheikh Ngao said.
