\n So how do we maximise on this opportunity? <\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\u00b7 The most beautiful way to start is with intention. This may be the easiest and the hardest endeavour.<\/span><\/div>\n

\n

Sincerity. Maximum benefit is derived when the deeds lie in the nest of truth and sincerity.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

I recently heard this statement: \u2018Islam is a gift\u2019. It\u2019s never too late to ask ourselves \u201cDo we really believe this?\u201d and \u201cHow do we align ourselves with this belief?\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n

\n

When we get a gift, should we say thank you and appreciate that it was truly given with love and respect and derive total use of it to benefit our daily lives?<\/span><\/div>\n

\n It\u2019s really okay to ask ourselves these questions on many occasions throughout our lives. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u00b7 We should also try to act out of love, in the actions we choose to do. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00b7 Try to complete the Quran. <\/span><\/p>\n

This is advice to me as it is to everyone who reads this: approach the text with love, and read to understand and allow it to transform us internally, rather than trying to get through the chapter. We should all strive to complete the Quran, and to do so with a desire to understand.<\/span><\/div>\n

\n

\u00b7 Wake up for Suhoor. Get the blessing from it. It\u2019s best to partake in it close to the time of fasting. So as challenging as it might be in the last nights, push yourself to wake up.<\/span><\/div>\n

\n \u00b7 Give up the negativity that holds you back. <\/span>
\n An example of this may be false speech and evil actions. An interesting hadith : <\/span>\n<\/p>\n

Abu Hurairah (Allah is pleased with him) narrated: The Prophet sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam said: “Whoever does not give up forged speech and evil actions, Allah is not in need of his leaving his food and drink. (that is his fast is not accepted by Allah)”. (Sahih al-Bukhari, Book 31, Hadith no. 127)<\/i><\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/i><\/span><\/div>\n
We\u2019re all human, so we all falter. How about giving ourselves a chance to get our blessings by putting aside the actions that hold us back?<\/span><\/div>\n

\n \u00b7 Practice Sunnah that are easy for you to perform. <\/span><\/p>\n

Start small with something that can be done consistently.<\/span><\/div>\n
Try to do something that you know you will continue to do after Ramadan, after all Ramadan is a period of training for the rest of the year. Maybe we should try.<\/span><\/div>\n

\n

\u00b7 Try to give charity, in time and money. Spend time doing something that benefits your parents, your loved ones, your family, your friends, your community, and your neighbours. Start with your parents, because all deeds fall short if one is not good to ones parents.<\/span><\/div>\n

\n

\u00b7 Start small. We have to start with ourselves, before we can change the world. So try look internally, look at what needs to be changed, or what may need to be accentuated in terms of our good conduct.<\/span><\/div>\n

\n \u00b7 Increase Istighfaar. There is no amount of ill conduct that cannot be forgiven by Allah, so just ask. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00b7 Ask Allah for Guidance and anything else you want. Make Du\u2019aa. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00b7 And say thank you. Try increasing your attitude of gratitude by thanking Allah. <\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Most of all, be honest, and adopt the habit of speaking in truth. For there is one thing that will lead to goodness and that is truth. Seek it, speak it, be it. Love it. Submit to it. Let\u2019s try.<\/span><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
