{"id":2042,"date":"2014-05-03T19:14:58","date_gmt":"2014-05-03T17:14:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/investigate-islam.com\/web\/?p=2042"},"modified":"2014-05-03T19:14:58","modified_gmt":"2014-05-03T17:14:58","slug":"biblical-prophecies-on-the-advent-of-muhammad-the-prophet-of-islam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/investigate-islam.com\/web\/?p=2042","title":{"rendered":"Biblical Prophecies on the Advent of Muhammad .. the Prophet of Islam"},"content":{"rendered":"<table border=\"0\" width=\"100%\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<h1 align=\"center\"><span style=\"color: #996633; font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: x-large;\">Biblical Prophecies on the Advent of<br \/>\nMuhammad\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.islam-guide.com\/salla.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"21\" height=\"17\" border=\"0\" \/>, the Prophet of Islam<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<p class=\"nr1p\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">The Biblical prophecies on the advent of the Prophet Muhammad\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.islam-guide.com\/salla.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"21\" height=\"17\" align=\"texttop\" border=\"0\" \/> are evidence of the truth of Islam for people who believe in the Bible.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p class=\"nr1\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">In <b> Deuteronomy 18<\/b>,<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.islam-guide.com\/ch1-3-img1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"226\" height=\"191\" align=\"right\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"3\" vspace=\"3\" \/> Moses stated that God told him: <b>\u201cI will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers; I will put my words in his mouth, and he will tell them everything I command him.\u00a0 If anyone does not listen to my words that the prophet speaks in my name, I myself will call him to account.\u201d (Deuteronomy 18:18-19)<\/b>.<sup><a href=\"http:\/\/www.islam-guide.com\/ch1-3.htm#footnote1\" name=\"bf1\">1<\/a><\/sup><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"nr1\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">From these verses we conclude that the prophet in this prophecy must have the following three characteristics:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"bl1\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>1)<\/b>\u00a0 That he will be like Moses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"bl1\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>2)<\/b>\u00a0 That he will come from the brothers of the Israelites, i.e. the Ishmaelites.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"bl1\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>3)<\/b>\u00a0 That God will put His words in to the mouth of this prophet and that he will declare what God commands him.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"nr1p\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Let us examine these three characteristics in more depth:<\/span><\/p>\n<h1 align=\"left\"><b><span style=\"color: #009933; font-size: x-large;\">1)\u00a0 A prophet like Moses:<\/span><\/b><\/h1>\n<p class=\"nr1p\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"> There were hardly any two prophets who were so much alike as Moses and Muhammad\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.islam-guide.com\/salla.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"21\" height=\"17\" align=\"texttop\" border=\"0\" \/>.\u00a0 Both were given a comprehensive law and code of life. Both encountered their enemies and were victorious in miraculous ways.\u00a0 Both were accepted as prophets and statesmen.\u00a0 Both migrated following conspiracies to assassinate them.\u00a0 Analogies between Moses and Jesus overlook not only the above similarities but other crucial ones as well.\u00a0 These include the natural birth, the family life, and death of Moses and Muhammad\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.islam-guide.com\/salla.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"21\" height=\"17\" align=\"texttop\" border=\"0\" \/> but not of Jesus.\u00a0 Moreover Jesus was regarded by his followers as the Son of God and not exclusively as a prophet of God, as Moses and Muhammad\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.islam-guide.com\/salla.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"21\" height=\"17\" align=\"texttop\" border=\"0\" \/> were and as Muslims believe Jesus was.\u00a0 So, this prophecy refers to the Prophet Muhammad\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.islam-guide.com\/salla.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"21\" height=\"17\" align=\"texttop\" border=\"0\" \/> and not to Jesus, because Muhammad\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.islam-guide.com\/salla.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"21\" height=\"17\" align=\"texttop\" border=\"0\" \/> is more like Moses than Jesus.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"nr1p\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"nr1p\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Also, one notices from the Gospel of John that the Jews were waiting for the fulfillment of three distinct prophecies.\u00a0 The first was the coming of Christ.\u00a0 The second was the coming of Elijah.\u00a0 The third was the coming of the Prophet.\u00a0 This is obvious from the three questions that were posed to John the Baptist: <b>\u201cNow this was John\u2019s testimony, when the Jews of Jerusalem sent priests and Levites to ask him who he was.\u00a0 He did not fail to confess, but confessed freely, \u201cI am not the Christ.\u201d\u00a0 They asked him, \u201cThen who are you?\u00a0 Are you Elijah?\u201d\u00a0 He said, \u201cI am not.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cAre you the Prophet?\u201d\u00a0 He answered, \u201cNo.\u201d (John 1:19-21)<\/b>.\u00a0 If we look in a Bible with cross-references, we will find in the marginal notes where the words <b>\u201cthe Prophet\u201d<\/b> occur in <b> John 1:21<\/b>, that these words refer to the prophecy of <b> Deuteronomy 18:15<\/b> and <b>18:18<\/b>.<sup><a href=\"http:\/\/www.islam-guide.com\/ch1-3.htm#footnote2\" name=\"bf2\">2<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0 We conclude from this that Jesus Christ is not the prophet mentioned in <b> Deuteronomy 18:18<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n<h1 align=\"left\"><b><span style=\"color: #009933; font-size: x-large;\">2)\u00a0From the brothers of the Israelites:<\/span><\/b><\/h1>\n<p class=\"nr1p\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Abraham had two sons, Ishmael and Isaac <b>(Genesis 21)<\/b>.\u00a0 Ishmael became the grandfather of the Arab nation, and Isaac became the grandfather of the Jewish nation.\u00a0 The prophet spoken of was not to come from among the Jews themselves, but from among their brothers, i.e. the Ishmaelites.\u00a0 Muhammad\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.islam-guide.com\/salla.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"21\" height=\"17\" align=\"texttop\" border=\"0\" \/>, a descendant of Ishmael, is indeed this prophet.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"nr1p\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Also, <b>Isaiah 42:1-13<\/b> speaks of the servant of God, His \u201cchosen one\u201d and \u201cmessenger\u201d who will bring down a law.\u00a0 <b>\u201cHe will not falter or be discouraged till he establishes justice on earth.\u00a0 In his law the islands will put their hope.\u201d (Isaiah 42:4)<\/b>.\u00a0 <b>Verse 11<\/b>, connects that awaited one with the descendants of Kedar.\u00a0 Who is Kedar?\u00a0 According to <b> Genesis 25:13<\/b>, Kedar was the second son of Ishmael, the ancestor of the Prophet Muhammad\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.islam-guide.com\/salla.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"21\" height=\"17\" align=\"texttop\" border=\"0\" \/>.<\/span><\/p>\n<h1 style=\"text-indent: -25 px; margin-left: 25 px;\" align=\"left\"><b><span style=\"color: #009933; font-size: x-large;\">3)\u00a0God will put His words in the mouth of this prophet:<\/span><\/b><\/h1>\n<p class=\"nr1p\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">The words of God (the Holy Quran) were truly put into Muhammad\u2019s\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.islam-guide.com\/salla.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"21\" height=\"17\" align=\"texttop\" border=\"0\" \/> mouth.\u00a0 God sent the Angel Gabriel to teach Muhammad\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.islam-guide.com\/salla.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"21\" height=\"17\" align=\"texttop\" border=\"0\" \/> the exact words of God (the Holy Quran) and asked him to dictate them to the people as he heard them.\u00a0 The words are therefore not his own.\u00a0 They did not come from his own thoughts, but were put into his mouth by the Angel Gabriel.\u00a0 During the life time of Muhammad\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.islam-guide.com\/salla.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"21\" height=\"17\" align=\"texttop\" border=\"0\" \/>, and under his supervision, these words were then memorized and written by his companions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"nr1p\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Also, this prophecy in <b> Deuteronomy<\/b> mentioned that this prophet will speak the words of God in the name of God.\u00a0 If we looked to the Holy Quran, we will find that all its chapters, except Chapter 9, are preceded or begin with the phrase, \u201cIn the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.\u201d<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"nr1\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Another indication (other than the prophecy in <b> Deuteronomy<\/b>) is that <b> Isaiah<\/b> ties the messenger connected with Kedar with a new song (a scripture in a new language) to be sung to the Lord <b> (Isaiah 42:10-11)<\/b>.\u00a0 This is mentioned more clearly in the prophecy of <b>Isaiah<\/b>: <b>\u201cand another tongue, will he speak to this people\u201d (Isaiah 28:11 KJV)<\/b>.\u00a0 Another related point, is that the Quran was revealed in sections over a span of twenty-three years.\u00a0 It is interesting to compare this with <b> Isaiah 28<\/b> which speaks of the same thing, <b>\u201cFor it is: Do and do, do and do, rule on rule, rule on rule;
