{"id":561,"date":"2012-07-17T12:19:06","date_gmt":"2012-07-17T10:19:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/investigate-islam.com\/web\/web\/?p=561"},"modified":"2012-07-17T12:19:06","modified_gmt":"2012-07-17T10:19:06","slug":"the-virtues-of-fasting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/investigate-islam.com\/web\/?p=561","title":{"rendered":"The virtues of fasting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: large;\">The virtues of fasting are great indeed, and one of the things reported in the saheeh ahaadeeth is that Allaah has chosen fasting for Himself, and He will reward it and multiply the reward without measure, as He says [in the hadeeth qudsi]: \u201cExcept for fasting which is only for My sake, and I will reward him for it.\u201d <\/span>(al-Bukhaari, <em>al-Fath<\/em>, no. 1904; <em>Saheeh<\/em> <em>al-Targheeb<\/em>, 1\/407).<span style=\"font-size: large;\"> Fasting has no equal <\/span>(al-Nisaa&#8217;i, 4\/165; <em>Saheeh al-Targheeb<\/em>, 1\/413),<span style=\"font-size: large;\"> and the du\u2019aa\u2019 of the fasting person will not be refused <\/span>(reported by al-Bayhaqi, 3\/345; <em>al-Silsilat al-Saheeh<\/em>, 1797).<span style=\"font-size: large;\"> The fasting person has two moments of joy: one when he breaks his fast and one when he meets his Lord and rejoices over his fasting <\/span>(reported by Muslim, 2\/807).<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Fasting will intercede for a person on the Day of Judgement, and will say, \u201cO Lord, I prevented him from his food and physical desires during the day, so let me intercede for him.\u201d <\/span>(Reported by Ahmad, 2\/174. Al-Haythami classed its isnaad as hasan in <em>al-Majma\u2019<\/em>, 3\/181. See also <em>Saheeh al-Targheeb<\/em>, 1\/411)<span style=\"font-size: large;\">.
